The cowon S9 is rated for 55 hours music between charges. Long enough that when mine reminds me to charge it I can't remember when I charged it last.

Hopefully someone (who has both) will have a little showdown between them to settle all claims.

You are right jjrosaria, that really is enough..... but I can't resist pointing out that the Cowon i7 owns even the D2 and S9 for total rated battery life. I win!

Thanks $ony$tlye,
I prefer a long lasting battery life, its very convenient and i often forget to charge my cell phone or mp3 player. Thats why i was asking about it. But anyway i will most likely buy the sony X series or the cowon S9, i dunno which one yet.

sorry but the cowan does not last 55 hours. it tends more to 30 hours. marketing bs from cowons site. neverthelesse both players are excellent (or will be). cowon is nice, but i need noise cancelling. very important feature.

Early leaks about the Sony X suggested the noise cancelling would work with any headphones. Latest specs on Sony's site explain it requires the OEM earbuds which have a mic on them. So while any headphones should work for music, you're stuck with the OEM ones for noise cancelling.

And.... Now that I'm over how great my S9's screen is and turn it (the screen) off right after starting my music, my S9 is easily getting 50+ hours of playtime. Bluetooth off as well.

i dont know where i read this, but i remember someone testing the battery life (for the cowon S9) the way cowon did it (the test conditions that led to 55 hours of battery life) and he ended up with 60. it would only last 30 hours if you're seriously making out with the S9 turning the screen on with your lips. (:

^ I don't know, but I'm suspecting that it would be made out of the same material used on previous Walkman video players.

BTW, did anyone see the Hands-On video CNET UK did?

Just looked at Sony's site and checked the specs on the X1061. No help at all. Can anyone confirm or deny what music settings are included? I'm especially interested in the dynamic normalizer and VPT(surrond).

That'll be included on this series, as it the premium lineup.
