I plugged my two-week-old Zen into my USB and got a message from Creative saying they had updates. Installed updates and now the Zen won't turn on and the computer can't detect it. Followed advice posted here of holding down the on/off button while pushng the reset with a paperclip, but no luck. It's dead as a mackerel and won't start at all! Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks!

The reset that usually works for mine after a particularly naughty crash is slightly different to what you are describing; hold down the play/pause while doing the paperclip thing, and keep holding it down while you slide down the on button until a reboot screen comes up. Then I'd do cleanup, and when it's done that, reboot. Don't do the update firmware or format options unless you really, really mean it!
