Default Connecting Sansa to Ubuntu

I never had a problem with this before when I tried to connect my mp3 player to Ubuntu. I used to have to do 'sudo fdisk -l' and manually mount the thing, but I upgraded to the newest version of Ubuntu. Now when I plug it in to the USB port, it comes up to the screen where it says "Connected" for a second and the arrows are moving, but then it switches to "Disconnected" and just sits there. I tried rebooting it a couple of times, and making sure it's in MSC mode (always has been), but nothing. Nothing shows up in fdisk either. Can anyone help? I don't have Windows anymore.

I practiced some "dark sorcery" from this page and it seems to be working temporarily. Sorry for the bother.
