I think it is a bit too early to even speculate on that...

As they say "good things come to those that wait", and I think this update will be more than worth it.

Never too early to speculate. If you wait until it's out then it's not speculation any more. I suspect Wifi will get updated to access the web for more than markeplace. There are plenty of apps that could use web based data. I also think they'll either release an SDK (if they haven't already) or add Flash app compatability to keep up with the Korean players and take advantage of all the Flash apps being adapted to work on them.

I wouldnt be surprised if there might be one more cross platform update for the 30 to 120 brigade and then thats it.

If the HD (or whatever) has a different chipset/features then chances are that wont fit into the cross platform updates and will be a standalone system. Who knows.

However, I'd be happy with one more 'dot the i's and cross the t's' update. That would be nice to finish off the older generations. However, the firmware for me is pretty good so I wouldnt be too upset if there was no further developement.

I might be mistaken, but I heard there was to be a minor update spr09. Has anyone heard similar?

This, my friend, is partly what this thread is about. I'm not gonna' get my EQ, and I doubt there'll be an sdk released from MS, but I hope there's some eye opening candy to keep us all satisfied till the "rumored" Zune HD is released.

I'd like to see FLV support, in both the Zune Desktop software and sync/convert to the device. EQ isn't really necessary, but some more WiFi features would be nice.

The screens are too small to make web browsing worthwhile. I'd love to see the music app get updated so it can bring in artist and album info off the web for any songs you have on the player (like the HD). They are adding video downloads from the Zune marketplace. Hopefully the older models will get that too.

I want them to fix gapless. It was wonderful when 3.0 came out with gapless. When 3.1 hit, my Pink Floyd and electronica became sad.

When the 80 came out , the 30's got a major firmware upgrade. There has been talk of a firmware upgrade for everything (including the 30's) when the Zune HD comes out. Of course nothing to my knowledge is official.

All backwards models will get updates is what Brian Seitz said on the mp3 insider podcast. He was not willing to reveal what would be added though.
