Default TrekStor i.Beat Worth It?

So I travel hunt/fish/bike etc for 1-2 weeks a time so something with a "rechargeable" lithium battery isn't going to cut it so I need a AAA/AA device.

I currently use a 512mb Iriver and after 4 very abused years its starting to screw up around the mic jack making a fuzzy sound.

So I was thinking of buying the 1GB version of it on Amazon.com

Then buying this 8GB SDHC

I am wondering how is the actual player....I hear the 1GB that comes with it is painfully slow but once you switch to a SD card it is much faster.

Can it handle 8GB? I really don't wish to buy it and find out it can only use 2GB cards or something. Also I saw a few reviews that says it can handle SDHC cards but I want to make 100% sure before buying it.

Also is it worth getting a 4GB Class 6 SD vs the 8GB Class 2 or will it only effect transfer of music onto the player? Also am I forced into using stupid software such as Itunes to hear my music or will any type of MP3 work? Such as one ripped from one of my CDs in my collection.

I am just looking for a good player to replace my other one which oddly enough I spent more for less 4 years ago ^-^

Thanks for any help you can give.
