My answer is going to look pretty good to you after your 1 year limited warranty is up.

I asked them when they would update the firmware and forgot to check within a day and they already closed it. I don't make up thier support policies.

I'm just saying that I want to go to the end of this, before spending any money.
After that, I might do as you suggested before or, more probably, simply buy a player from a different manufacturer.
Sandisk's customer care is the worst I've ever experienced.

Speak of the devil... I've just received a reply from SanDisk, finally asking me to send them (via email) my contact details, View's serial number and proof of purchase.
Maybe they'll finally replace it?

In my latest ticket response to them I was pretty forward: I simply told them that if they did not want to replace it it would be fine by me, but they should at least have the guts to tell it clearly, instead of procrastinating this forever. Seems it might have worked.

I've just received my Sansa View replacement. Still have to test the microSD slot, though. Let's hope it works.
