Gapless isn't working anymore w/3.1

Gapless appears to not work with the 3.1 update.

I just listened to Space Intro ->> Fly like an eagle By the steve miller band
noticeable gap!
Unbearable! (Okay so I have lived with it before)

Anyone else having the problem? It may only be on Zune 80's

it only works if the tracks themselves don't have a gap at the end of the track or the beginning, so it is most likely the track and not the firmware.

I can confirm that gapless still works with 3.1 - not sure why yours isn't.

On the zune forums there is at least one other person experiencing the same thing. So at least I ain't crazy.

Machiventa, bit rate/file format did you test it with?

I tested the same files AAC@128 on my zune 80 running 3.1 (was not gapless) and my father's zune 30 running 3.0 (was gapless)

I'm having the same issue. Prior to the upgrade it was never a problem with any MP3s but since I upgraded there is a noticeable gap (half a second?) in the playback. And man is it annoying, mostly because it wasn't a problem before.

I could describe in more detail the characteristics of the MP3s that are having this problem but I'm away from my home computer right now and don't have access to the properties of the files. Also, it doesn't seem to make a difference which files they are.

At least it's nice to know I'm not crazy.

Actually, I've had a few gaps w/a few cd's myself. The 1's I noticed a problem w/lately are Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, & The Wall CD 1 & 2.

Hmmm I just tested Dark Side Of The Moon downloaded from the Marketplace and there are NO gaps at all... perfect transition. I'm not saying you guys are lying at all I'm just saying it appears to be certain players and/or the song formats (I guess?). Pretty strange. I hope the Zune team figures it out.

I've heard of this bug once are twice before...you might want to try doing a firmware repair:
Connect the Zune
Go to Settings in the software
Click Device
Click Device Update on the left section
Click the Install Games button

Hello,

I bought a ZUNE 4 Gb 2nd generation for the gapless feature. I updated the firmware to 3.1(50). Now, There is no gap between first and second track, but after gapless doesn't work.

I'm very disappointed.

I'm waiting for a fix. Does anyone know if Microsoft is working on this bug?

It is not a bug, make sure that they have no extra silence at the end of the track. If they have any at all it won't work.

I'm sorry, but it's a bug and my Zune is not broken. I listen the same tracks with Zune's software, XMPlay, Media player or my Sansa with rockbox and I have no gap.

I found on the Zune's forum there were threads on this issue. But there is no solution and there is no updated of the Firmware.

Well, I think it's a case for a refund.

I was not implying that anything was wrong with your zune device. I was just telling you to check the file. I had no way of knowing that you had checked the file in other places. I'm sorry for your problems, but I cannot help you an further.
