Interface looks a little more intelligent than the Cowon O2, but reacts as sluggish. At least the P7 has more tactile buttons... codec support is probably not on par with the O2, considering iRiver's history.
Wonder if it's still a crappy 480x272 screen, or a decent 800x480 one? No SD slot? Battery life?

I believe that is is 480x272, unfortunately , but it does have a microsd slot (don't know why it has microsd instead of sd, though...). Forgot to mention that in the first post. With a trip to pocketables I found out much more. 50 hours battery life, 4/8/16 NAND flash memory, full movie codec support (whatever that means), 7 preset EQ, srs wow hd, voice recording. http://www.pocketables.net/2009/01/ces-2009-iriver.html

Maybe Enzo hasn't been to the iriver booth yet.

Exactly, he will post it when he got some quality hands-on time with the player.
Never trust CNET, most of the time they really don't know what they're talking about. Maybe it has Wifi, maybe it doesn't... we will know for sure once a reputable journalist writes about it.

Also: Pocketables on the D50N eDictionary (which on the contrary does have wifi, but obviously will be a korean only device) http://www.pocketables.net/2009/01/wifi-enabled-ir.html

Interestingly, the "P7" appears to be called "P10" on iRiver's website...
