Zen recorded track problem

I am new to MP3 players having just bought a Zen 4 GIG.
I have filled it up with mostly music from my CD collection, It was noticed recently whilst it was playing background it occasionally ended a track early and the next track would start whilst the display was still showing the previous track details. This is a new player and it had been on for a couple of hours. I first thought overheating ,, maybe not! has anyone got an answer please
