i7-16G: 1.17 vs earlier firmware?

My new i7 - 16G just arrived today. The font is tiny so my eyes may be deceiving me.. but it looks like 1.16 is the firmware installed (must squint again after it finishes charging - is there even such an animal as 1.16???).

I checked out the Cowon site/and here of course re: firmware version:

Is 1.17 the stable, state of the art firmware to be using for this model? I am asking because when I got my first one a little over a year ago - the i7 8G model, I had firmware issues and had to do a reinstall. I vaguely remember being warned off of a bad version, so I thought I would check back in and ask those who are in the know.

I know that during whatever I did upgrade to the last time, I DID lose all of my music, I want to say I went to 1.15 but as CRS sets in, I wouldn't swear to it.

I’ve had 1.11, 1.13, 1.15, 1.17 and 1.17, with 1.17 being the best, you might like the sensitivity adjustment for the swing touch too on the latest fw. I never saw 1.16 o_O but that’s not to say there wasn’t one issued. For the tiny font, check here. I didn’t lose my tunes on most upgrades, but iirc I did once, so back them up. BTW, congrats on new player and let us know how it works out

It does say 1.16. - I am going for the upgrade :-)

Also thanks for the great 411 on how to check for the transfer speed problem.

I believe you ... no reason not to. It could have been a beta before .17 and only released on the 16gb players. I just didn't see on their web-site or get a chance to test it. But .17 is very good, best yet and I'm sure you will like it. BTW, no thanks needed, pop into here or irc and let us know how it's going

I was curious myself because I didn't see references to a 1.16 anywhere. I am now surfing the forums as a reload all my stuff and re-set the EQ.

I actually just purchased an iAudio 7 from Amazon not two days ago, and it did have 1.16 on it upon boot.

Too bad I didn't think anything of it when I first turned it on, and then upgraded the firmware D:.....

All the tips from this forum are great though, I really appreciate it.

Alright.. I have an iAudio 7 that's over a year old, but I've never touched the firmware. I'm about to upgrade to 1.17 but if someone wants a copy of 1.16, I'd be happy to make one.... just tell me what I need to do to make a copy of it.

No real need unless you want to keep a copy for yourself, since 1.17 is much better, there isn't any real need to keep it. I kept copies of 1.11, 1.13, & 1.15 and just didn't see the need to keep saving them. If anyone wants one, I can also make available, I just can't imagine why.
