As far as I know, the R models are always V1s, so you can put rockbox on them.

received the one from buy.com.. shiny new with even shinier "refurbished" sticker on the back. got this to see what rockbox is all about and monkey with it.

just for a heads up, its a e250r v1 (model on the back says 250r) but it does not come with the "r" firmware. it has msc/ntp usb options in the settings, so i could install rockbox directly.

just as an observation, the fuze has a nicer screen and the wheel is way nicer than this graty feeling thing. next, to get to the sq

That's my observation too The OF is better too, but that shouldn't matter in our context :P

update..

sq is oh so very so-so. i much prefer my other mp3/pmp players sq wise. but theres some implementing that these guys can learn from the rockbox.

rockbox is simply awesome to fiddle with, my hat off to those blokes that have put in hours on this. its brilliant!!

on a small downside, the battery on my unit seems defective. i can loose 20% charge in 30 mins. thought it was because it needed some cycling, tried that, no cigar. battery wont hold a charge decently. theres that 90 day warranty though... wonder is its worth the effort or should i just get one off ebay once it gets unbearably useless at holding a charge.

suggestions as to where to get replacement batts cheaper that ebay?

anybody else received defective batts in their refurbed e200 sansas?

anybody had to deal with returning a refurb? experiences?

ta!

I have a refurb e260v1 and battery lasts fine. Was reading that older versions of rockbox might have a battery problem? make sure you have 3.x rockbox installed and check battery use again.

You should easily find a replacement battery for around $10.00 on the net and it comes with spare screws & small screw driver.

Not that I know of, I have over a 2 yr old battery in ours and it's still running fine. I don't use it much other than to tool around with rockbox, but it still runs over 6 hrs fine. Just buy new from a reputable seller and it should be fine.
