Need Major help.
Friend gave me this iRiver Clix 4GB to fix.
Based on the ones i see on the site i guess its the old one. You have to click the sides to move and doesnt have a memory slot. Issues: does not connect to the computer When turned on/reset it says Player update required Please refer to the manual. v1.17 i try to update it using the fireware updater still doesn't connect.. Any suggestions??

What OS do you have? That player is a MTP drive by default. You need Windows XP SP2 or newer with Windows Media Player 10 or newer, Windows Vista, or Linux with libmtp.
You can change the firmware to make it a MSC/UMS device, but I am not sure how since I do not have one.

If you're running it in Linux, I struggled, but did get it to work in MTP through Rhythmbox and gnomad. Wasn't ideal having two apps for playlists and syncing, but it worked.
Had a problem where I had to totally reset (it wasn't recognizing any longer), using the button on the side, and after that, I could get it to work in Amarok. I am guess that is what you need to do--a total hard reset.
