Biggest problems with D2

I'm running rockbox on my sansa e260 right now. I like it better than the default OS, but it still has some bugs and inconveniences. (i.e. bookmarks don't really work, database requires updates for no apparent reason, etc. etc.). Then again, I haven't updated my rockbox since January, so maybe some things have been fixed.

The fw 2,57 which i have does not appear to be as cool as you are saying...Which fw should i upgrade to? 3.57?

3.57 is no upgrade, it's a cross-grade, adding some gimmicks and removing MTP.

What don't you like about the x.57 firmware?

The Problem was nothing...Just wanted to use flash skins...which i couldnt with the 2.57...
Btw will more upgrades be coming our way?

I don't understand "gapless". I was watching 2 songs today after all sound was gone the lead out of the song took 10 seconds on one and 19 seconds on another to complete the song before going to another. How can Rock Box, or any other program, other than cutting the lead out off the song make a song gapless?

Well there'd have to have no fade outs and be gapless on the CD as well. If your album has fade outs and silience after each track then a gapless option would be useless.

Gapless playback is when there are no skips, and the music is played back exactly the way the artist intended on the original recording.

Try listening to Pink Floyd - The Wall and you'll see what we mean about gapless being a necessary feature. It would truly make the D2 almost perfect IMO.

Converting vids is a pain in the arse...I tried to use the converter that came in the cd...not jet audio....jet toys vid converter....The audio and video did not play simuntaneously...Anyone knows which converter does the best converting? And where do i dl it frm?

I only have 2 problems with my D2. Video conversion(which i solved by using JetAudio), and gapless. I have a few live CDs and it just ruins the whole experience. Yet Rockbox isn't too stable with Mp3 yet, so I'm just waitng for it to become more stable before I try patching it in again. I love my D2 though. It's like a brother. Except he doesn't talk and does what I want him to. =]

Indeed, there are no sync issues at all (on x.57) with both MaxSt's app and JetAudio.

When I think gapless I think of Paul McCartney and Wings "Wings Over America". It's live and most track end and start with no break in sound, no long lead outs.

Listning to The Wall they have in some songs an almost 1 minute lead in to the song.

A lead in w/no gaps. The constant sound of dead space, on any player, really isn't necessary at this stage of the game. Companies are just too lazy to implement it, and that leaves 99% of us scratching our heads, hoping RockBox FW will solve the prob. And, at least for me, I'll never go RockBox.
