Default Anybody ever see one of THESE before?

On a whim, I bought a 60-pack of off-brand "MP4" players for ... something like 35 cents each with shipping. I have no clue what brand they are (no, it doesn't say on the devices). Can anyone help me out here?

Judging by the menu system shown in the vid, it's based on a SigmaTel chipset -- may be identified as such when connected to computer by USB.

Fihart, not all SigmaTel based players are like that. Take a look at this list.

And buy the way, how much space is on each of them. Could be worth it if they are over a 1GB - 35c Thumb Drive

Thanks for the useful link -- contains info about the infamously crash-tastic Matsui 4gig stick drive which I have and (fingers crossed, touch wood) seem to have tamed, at least for the time being..

They look like some of the many off-brand Chinese products. The price however appears to be really really low. I'd be a little concerned.

how so??

i've seen many "mp4 players" in china going for around the same price or even cheaper...it's really not a big surprise.

MP4, huh? Wouldn't that make it better than MP3?

Those Chinese are on the forefront of innovation. I'll bet they have an MP5 player before anyone else does.

Oh, wait, they already have them:

Damn they're good.

I think he (from the video) said his was a 640MB internal memory device. But for 35c each they'll make great giveaway prizes or stocking stuffers... that is if those who you give it to are easy to please. I think if I had paid $5 for one of those at a discount store I would be happy getting what I paid for. Then again, 2GB Sansa e200s are running about $15 on ebay and would make anyone happy... good buy though on the 60 pack!
