I purchased two refurbished m240s. They're both behaving the same way. I can copy music on to the players but after I copy about 455 mb, I get a message that says "The disk in the destination drive is full. Insert a new disk to continue."
I've reformatted the players through My Computer and I've set the players to connect through MSC since I'm using Windows 2000. (I didn't realize XP was a requirement.) I can not update the firmware because the firmware program is not supported on Windows 2000 and will not install. I've also restored them to the original factory settings through the player's menus but nothing seems to help. One thing I have noticed that seems weird, even though I've set the players to use MSC, when I connect them to the computer, the display says "USB Connected MTP". Does any one have any ideas on how I can actually use more that 455 mbs? |

Are you sure they are m240s? Have you checked Setting -> System Info and it should say the size?

Yes. If I go to Menu -> Information, one says "Sansa m240 Version V4.1.08A" and the other says "Sansa m240 Version 3.2.8P".

Does it say the size in there too?

On the initial start up screen on both it says 1.0GB. Under the Menu -> Information, one says:
Memory Total 973 MB Memory Available 571 MB And the other says: Memory Total 969 MB Memory Available 517 MB On both, I get the disk full message when trying to copy more songs over. I've tried multiple songs, and individual songs just in case there was an issue with a particular file. I've also deleted everything from them and reformatted several times, but I'm not getting any further. |

Weird. Is there a format in the menu?

No. They both have Menu -> Settings -> Reset All. I've tried it a few times already on each of them.

O OK, you might have to wait for someone with a m200 that know what is going on here.

Alright, I figured it out. When formatting the players, the default File System selection was FAT and I just left it there. Once I looked at the other options and saw FAT32, I selected that instead and now I'm able to use the players to their full capacity.
Mods, feel free to delete this thread. |
