My mp3 player has expandable memory (Sansa Fuze) and I'm just wondering if any MicroSD's will do? Does the different brands have an affect on the loading speed / playing speed? For example the 2GB Sandisk microSD is more expensive then the 2GB microSD Kingston. Does it mean the 2GB Sandisk loads faster and etc?

Any brand should work, but I have heard once you get into microSDHC card, you want the higher class with the large microSDHC cards.

The microSD cards has x numbers that tell you the speed. Since it does not say the x, it is most likely the normal speed of the microSD cards.

If it doesn't say what class it is, then it is class 2. Since the price difference between class 2 and class 6 is so small, it makes sense to get a class 6 card. A class 6 card is 3 times as fast as a class 2 card. There are even faster cards than class 6, but the prices on those tend to be high. Imo class 6 is fast enough.

speaking of microSDHC cards, I've been having a hard time finding a class 6 8GB microSDHC card. I know they are out there but all I seem to find is class 4?.
If anyone has links I sure would appreciate it!

Keep in mind that if you get regular class 2 cards, if you play video back from them you might get some unwanted pauses every few seconds, at east that's been the case for me vs. playing video from the internal memory. I'd think (though I haven't tried it out) that video will play fine on faster cards.
Seems to make no difference for audio, even VBR mp3s. |
