Hey guys. I bought my A720 a couple months ago and i loved the thing but now i finally have a problem. I can hear only from my right earbud...I tried different earphones but no such luck. If i move the plug around it might help me hear from both sides but i would have to keep my finger there. This had happened to me before with the Sansa e250. I actually bought 2 of those because both their headphone jacks went bad...is it me or is this a common problem? This is my third mp3 player and i really dont feel like i should buy another one because of this flaw. If anyone can guide me to a solution, it'll be greatly appreciated. If you know how to prevent this problem, it'll be appreciated too.
(I'm sure it's a hardware problem.) (My best guess is that the jack is loose and needs to get tighten somehow, but i could be wrong.) |

So it's not the earphones themselves?
I know my pair that came with the A729 broke around the headphone socket... which is a shame, they were nice 'phones. It works fine with others, though. Or is it a problem with the socket on the player itself? |

It may also be that your kinda rough w/the player. 3 times is a lot to attribute to hardware failure due to the manufacturers. I haven't really had a problem w/my players, except the creative 1's I've owned. Try to contact Sony and see if they'll fix it for you. It may still be under a warranty by them, and it couldn't hurt.

Buy or make yourself a short 3.5mm Audio Extension Cable (3 inch or less) for your next player, most stores have them. This way you put less stress on the female jack in your player.

I heard of issues with bad solder joints on the Samsung YP-P2 main board but nothing on the Sony. I'd tend to agree that with your history that you're overstressing the headphone jack and causing a premature failure. I have the Sansa e280 and the NWZ-A829 and have not experienced the problems you've had.

yup how do you carry it, in the pocket? perhaps a tight pocket fit with movement crushes/torques the jack while in the player. nothings going to withstand that for long.
armband or whatever might be better. many silicon cases come with an armband. |

3 players with the same problem? I have owned 4 different players and never had this issue. Sorry but I would guess you are rough with your players. Or you just have bad luck.
