hello everyone,
let me inform you of my situation. i have a 2gb P2 with a protech shield on it, i removed the shield (full body) once before, to realise it had some vague marks on the sides, so i decided to call upon my lifetime warrenty right. i sent a mail asking for a new shield, explaining the situation. after i sent another mail with shipment ID etc. to verify i really already had a shield, a week later the new shield dropped on my front door, today to be exact. this evening i decided to remove the old shield, for the second time, wanting to paint the back and expierence if that would give a nice result, only to discover that alof of the paint sticked to the shield! so the whole idea of painting is no longer an option, but, i also noticed the headphone jack getting a bit loose. in fact if i push the jack a bit to the right, my right earbud will stop playing music. reading about this on the forum, and realising my warranty validates on october 27th, i will contact samsung tomorrow about this. i have no idea what my options are, but i think it will be the same as i already read about on the fora. either repair or or get a.. refurbished one (or however you spell it) any thoughts? anyone wants to comment, give me some useful information / adivse? i thank those who do i will keep this topic up to date about the progress. |

I found this on youtube a while back. I don't sanction the video but you may want to take a look at it. Give it a try if you plan on returning it anyway. Just don't melt your P2.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=OXNB_s68Seg Sorry you pretty much said it all in your post. Return to store if possible or send to Samsung for repairs. Unless your good with a soldering iron =/

As an experienced Deadphone Jack sufferer I would tell that if if your warranty is still valid call Samsung and arrange for a repair or an exchange. That's what the warranty's for.
If your warranty has expired I'd open up the P2 and solder the headphone jack back to the board.

If you do decide to solder and you want a heads up on how to take it apart check out this video on how to disassemble the P2 down to the headphone jack.
