Hi everyone,
I bought a reconditioned m260 a few months ago. It functioned pretty well. there were niggling little problems, but they were small enough to ignore. ![]() Now, however, the player has become useless. A few weeks ago it started not being recognised by the computer when I plugged it in. Occasionally it IS recognised, but any music files I add do not function properly on the player. Last night I tried again to try to add a new album. The computer on this occasion DID recognise the player, I transferred the album, but since I unplugged the player (after giving it time to update the library), every time I switch it on it shows ‘No Files’ on the display! ![]() Have I lost all my files? Does anyone know if there is there something I can download to remedy this problem or is time to get another player? If at all helpful- the main problem I used to get was that certain albums would seem to ‘freeze’ the player. For example, if I selected ‘Amy Winehouse’ from the menu, it wouldn’t play, and whichever button I would press the only thing appearing on the display was ‘Amy Winehouse’. After turning it off and on again it would be ok. I’d be grateful for all suggestions, but please bear in mind I’m not all that technically-minded! Thanks, Rebecca |

Thanks for your answer, having searched the 'Information' section of the player,
it says 'Version 2. 2. 5A' That's the firmware version, isn't it? |

Yep. You have not lost your files on the Sansa, but I do not know what is going on tho.

Oh well, then it's a mystery. Thanks for your help anyway.
It's now showing the available memory as 3.9 GB so I think maybe I have lost all the files. Someone advised me to update the firmware. I'm not sure how to do it but i'll do some research then see if that does any good- nothing to lose

I was going to say that. If you are on Windows XP or Vista, you can use the Sansa Firmware Updater if you do not know how to update your firmware. Once that is done, you could format it and put your songs back on to it.

Ok, I've done that, it said there were no updates currently available. So, I reformatted it and tried the firmware updater again just in case, but it said the same thing. It's now being recognised when I plug it into the computer
(although the folders aren't appearing as before-strange). I've reinstalled some music and it seems to be working for now Thanks for your suggestions!
