Default strange popping noise when playing music through speakers

I was listening to my music on my computer when I kept hearing this popping noise coming from my speakers. I know it isn't my cell phone, because it's off and I know the CD is not scratched. The CD is a CD-RW if that helps, but I also put a new CD I bought in the drive and got the same results. What is causing the popping? Are my speakers dying? Is there something wrong with my SoundBlaster? I need help diagnosing this problem.

Actually, the problem was a bad connection between the speakers and the computer.

Also just like to add to it. If your using wireless connection it might be it. Experienced the same problem with my asus eee and my altec lansing speakers.
