I recently picked up a 2gb black Clip from woot. I basically got it because the price was right and I had read good things about the player. It supports MSC/UMS mode, and I read that it would work as a drive on my Mac. I wanted to post the following info in case anyone is interested in using their Macs and iTunes to sync with their Clip.
I typically drag-and-drop to my smaller mp3 players (of which I own quite a few). However, I like iTunes for podcast management and for smart playlists. There'a great free program you can use to sync iTunes playlists and podcasts to non-iPods called SyncTunes available here: http://www.nesfield.co.uk/synctunes/
To get playlists to sync correct with a working m3u file make sure you do the following:
- select your desired playlist, then
- go to the Advanced menu, choose Volumes, then make sure the following checkboxes are checked: Create playlists, Use relative file paths, Use extended M3U format, Use 'Windows' formattings
This will create an m3u file in the same directory where your songs go. It doesn't matter that the m3u file doesn't get put into the Playlists folder. The player will find it when it does a database refresh and it will be available in the Music > Playlists menu.
By the way, if you've got a PC, you can try iTunes Sync to sync iTunes with your mp3 player: http://www.binaryfortress.com/itunes-sync/
