Just recently, I was using my Sansa C250 v2 and I noticed that when I pressed the "Up/Play" button, I would have a hard time getting the player to actually respond to it, but when I pressed any other button, it worked fine. This actually got quite annoying, because when I would listen to my music and want to pause my device, I would keep pressing the Up button only to realize that I was in the Music options Menu.
Basically, whenever I press the up button, it also presses the down button (this gets REALLY annoying, trust me). Please help. I've tried reinstalling firmware, formatting it, etc. but nothing works. |

Sounds like your buttons might be wearing out. If it is still under warranty, you might want to RMA it.

but I've only had it for 7 months....the buttons couldn't be wearing out NOW could they?

If you have used them a lot, they could, but it could have been bad buttons when you got it.

So there isn't a way to open it up and fix it on the inside I guess?

Yes, you can open it, but it would void the warranty.
Here is how the c200v1 is opened up, but I do not know how different it is from a v2. |

The c200 buttons are "built-in" to the cover. You might have gotten some crud under the rubber pad, blocking the operation of the tiny electrical switch underneath. There is not much that can be done to clean or align them, like on the e200. (Though it might take a blast of contact cleaner spray without harm)
You might be able to get a bricked c240 off of ebay and swap out the covers. Hopefully you can find one that's not terribly scuffed up. Another thing - it's possible the little connector that connects the switches on the cover to the main board is not seated well. Disassembling the player, spraying around the switches above and below, then reassembling - just might do the trick. |

Dr howardfine, you know if the v1 and v2 have the same buttons? I have been wondering if they are the same or not.
