IF you use iTunes, you can do it right off that program.
On a Mac it is Right click > Get info > Artwork > Add in iTunes.

On PC.. I dunno ;(

Check the post again. It's a link to a program called MP3Tag. That will let you embed images into the mp3. Click the file in MP3Tag, right click on the box on the far left and hit "Add Cover". Pick the file you want, save, and you're done.

Use MediaMonkey. All you do is highlight the song, hit 'Shift-Enter' and go to album art. If it already has album art, you can delete what is there. If not, you can add you own. If you want to do this with all songs, select all and repeat same process.

Sadly this doesn't work all the time. At least for me. Spent a weekend using mediaMonkey to redo all my album art and less then half my mp3s show up with album art on my P2. Also have this problem when browsing mp3s on my PS3. In iTunes (I am a mac user) and even in EmoDio, the album art looks fine. I still haven't figured out how to fix this problem.

Seriously, give MP3Tag a shot. It doesn't try to be a player/playlist maker/editor. It's made for one thing, and one thing only: tagging songs.

And it works so phenomenally well that other than foobar2000 to play my songs and all2lame to encode them, it is the only mp3 tool that I use for anything. It tags them, names them and even with a little custom scripting, makes me some Cue files for burning CDs when I want to do funky things with them.

: sighs: Just installed MP3Tag on my work machine to test your theory, and guess what? MP3Tag recognizes that all my mp3s are already tagged. Check out the attached image as proof.

I am totally lost on why the art won't show up. Hell, even with my new mp3 player (swapped P2 for Sansa Fuze) I am having the same problem. Aynone think they can help me out?

He means ID3 tag. There are various versions of ID3, but the P2 only supports ID3 v2.3. From your screenshot it's clear that your tags are saved using the right version. It's possible that there is more than one cover saved to the file. Have you tried right clicking on the cover art in mp3tag and removing the cover? If you remove it and there is still one there, then it has multiple images saved to the file, which will confuse the P2.

I did check for multiple album art. I removed any of the extras. I will double-check again tomorrow, but doubt anything has changed since I firsr re-tagged them all.

Also, I have switched to a Sansa Fuze as of last night. I am still posting here since this problem (album art not showing up tagged to mp3s) started on my P2 and now continues to happen on my Fuze. You guys have helped me out with this problem, so I keep posting here. If I shouldn't be, I wil move my problem over to the Fuze forum.

Anyway, ya. I will double-check on the multiple cover art. One last thing though: If there was mutliple cover arts, why do the work perfectly in iTunes?

Because iTunes, like so many other things Apple (although IE is a huge offender as well) sacrifices proper implementation of standards for the "gee-whiz" factor. Multiple covers in a file work with iTunes due to the fact that they most likely have some ugly workaround. The same thing happens with their implementation of the h.264 standard on the iPod and in QuickTime, but thats an entirely different discussion.

There are 2 versions of 2.3 ID3tags
In mp3tag go to tools => options => tags => mpeg
Check if it is well 2.3 UTF and no 2.3 ISO
