Default Program for ripping video from DVDs?
(not sure if this is the right place)

does anyone know of a free program for ripping the video files from dvds?
i've tried just copying the file but it's but it's got all kinds of nasty piracy protection, so is it legal?

I use DVD Decrypter to rip the files then Winff to convert to mpeg (I use Rockbox). Do a search of the forums for DVD Decrypter and you'll find a link to the site you can download it from.

DVD Decryter. works good, used it to rip a movie for my cousin to watch on his PSP.
I had to convert the movie though.
