"connect your earphone" message won't go away
This message won't go away even though earphones are plugged in. Also, I can't reset, turn off, or connect to my computer via USB. Nothing works!
I suppose the battery will drain and then maybe let me do something to the player...

Are you using the stock headphones?
Does it get detected and can you access it when you connect it to the computer? Check out this thread on resetting and formatting.
