This post may seem odd. I'm working with a group that does annual solo retreats on a mountain. We'd like the participants to have some selected music but don't want them to have access to a radio. The player needs to have replaceable batteries and the M200 series fits the bill. However, we'd rather people not have a radio as it may be distracting.
Does anyone know of a firmware or hardware method of disabling the radio? |

You could try the Euro firmware without the FM Radio. I am not sure if it will work or not.

Which version of the firmware would that be?
Is there a thread pointing to where I can get it? Thanks |

I have the m250 but I will be purchasing about 40 M230 and doing it to them too. I have 4.1.08a on mine. I have seen several post about people flashing firmware but am not sure which is the correct way. What is the correct procedure?
When I do the M230's, will I need to flash the same version that they came with? Changing the A version for the E? |

I got it. Here is what I did. I downloaded the latest firmware updater software from Sandisk. I upgraded my firmware to the latest it would take which is 4.1.08a. Please note that the USB mode needs to be set to MSC to do all of these things (done on the device in settings). Then I looked at the list of firmwares available at here and noted the prior version which was 4.1.07.
I changed the 4.1.08a to 4.1.07e and changed Americas to Europe in the version.sdk file found in the root directory of the device. I ran the SanDisk updater again and the firmware is now 4.1.08e. Thanks for your help. |

RADIO WORKING !!! I write here for other people on this forum and maybe for Google Using 4.0.45 didn't work... I've done this: On Sandisk m240 4.1.08E - Changed in version.sdk to 4.1.07A (I had already region Americas in my version.sdk) - Installed sansa updater -> installed 4.1.08A Everything seems working...Audio seems louder too ... I use SEEMS because i didn't test it well, i've just done, I cannot guarantee... I was stuck using 4.0.45 ... But maybe sansa updater didn't like that number...
