Do you remember if yours was an e200 or e200R?

Since this is not working right for you, you might have to look into the e200tool in Linux.

Unhappy

well..
i'll tel u my prob in detail

i had 01.02.18A firmware on my sansa and then i installed rockbox on it.. i was enjoyin rockbox, and one day my cousin wanted me to showhow to install rockbox, so i remover rockbox(by using sansapacher)
then i also wanted himto show how to upgrade the original firmware manually in recovery mode. so i went to the recovery mode but then i did a stupid thing and formatted my 16mb-format disk, the disk did not format successfully for the first attempt and so i did it again and succesfully completed it when i now looked at my sansa's screen i saw
LUN0 locked
LUN0 unlocked
these messagees appeard repetedly
and en i disconnected the sansa and it froze.
i forced it to pwer off by holding the menu button for 15 sec and when i booted it again it flashed the sansa screen and gave the error
Load main image failed
Switch to Recovey mode

now when i went to recovery mode i got a 16MB-FORMAT drive detected on my system with just a curroupted VERSION.TXT file in it
i copied the mi4 file to reinstall the firmware (i tried both firmware.mi4 and PP5022.mi4 with and without the bootloader which also itried in 2 names pribootLoader.rom and BL_SD_BOARDSUPPORT.rom, i have tried all combinations)
but when i wite these files on the 16MB drive i see
LUN0 locked
LUN0 unlocked thing repeating on my sansa screen
and it does not display anthing else
it does not commit the firmware and when i plug it out it displays the disconnected message and freezes
i tried this a number of times in around 4 systems
nothing works
nomatter what i put on the 16Mb drive it freezes on disconnecting and when i again connect it to the PC the drive contains only a curroupted version.txt file and nothing else

i then tried the e200tool in linux
and was able to complete succesfullt the procedure as mentioned in chrisjs's website
http://chrisjs.com/howto-e200r-to-e200/

but after doing this the when the sansa exectutes and comes to the recoverydrive it just contains the curroupted version.txt and l;ike before it does not commit any firmware and still freezeson disconnection

please help.......

Are you using the right files with the e200tool? There is a simple guide in the FAQ's too.

I don't think a different version.txt will help since it is like a firmware update. It would be like having a player with 01.02.15A and upgrading to 01.02.18A. I wonder if the files you downloaded was bad. Have you checked the MD5sum on the files?

That is the only way is with recovery mode or the e200tool. There is not other tools out there. If you really need more help, you could ask the people at Rockbox in their IRC channel or forums. I am just running out of ideas.

Like many others with corrupted Version.txt files I have had no success in writing a new version.txt file to the sansa. I have tried all the suggested fixes in this and other forums. I have successfully fixed three other sansas with lockup or repeated resets with these fixes, but no thread I have found has shown a fix for a corrupted version.txt file.

Fwees, I am not sure what is causing this now. Have you tried the e200tool?

yes, I have linux on my pc and followed the latest unbrick scenario that uses the e200tool. I copied the version.txt file from a working e260 to one that is inop. I displayed the file to see if it was identical to the working one while still in recovery mode, exactly the same. I then copied the other three files in the procedure and then did a umount of the sansa. I got the safe to disconnect msg and then it hung, no rebuild, no nothing. I gave it many minutes and then did the 20 sec power off. I have also replaced the battery. It all started when I formatted the 16MB-FOMAT partition while in recovery mode. Version.txt is now corrupted like before. I don't think it is fixable.

chrisjs162216 you are the $hit bro. I was three seconds away from throwing my player away and buying a new one. Your trick of dloading the three files and creating the blank file worked like a charm dude. Mine was so bad, when it started to refresh database, it would screen freeze like a busted up nes game. Thanks a million dude.
