I have dust under my screen as well, although I'm too scared to disassemble my Gigabeat because it'll void the warranty. As far as I know, you have to send it back to Toshiba for them to do it in controlled environments, though I may be wrong. I'm not sure. If your warranty is still ok then it might be worth sending it to them to do it.

Hey thanks this could be really useful, but won’t I void my warranty if I pull it apart?

Lol, that makes sense. I think I'll give it a go, if I undo the back and it looks to hard I'll stop, just in case I screw it up.

Yeah I will ... Thanks for the luck, I'm sure I'll need it, I'm not very good with this sort of thing, maybe I can employ the help of my electrician friend.

I've heard so many people have this dust under the screen problem... It's been a month, I think, since I bought my S30, and hasn't happened yet.

And I HOPE that it never DOES.

But I can't help but feel worried... Does Gigabeat have a case, or something that I can buy?

Best Buy and Circuit City didn't even have Gigabeat to start with, so I was thinking maybe I had to get a case nline too. >_<

Yes.

Belkin have a range of cases for the Gigabeat S series. I have the Folio Case with kick stand, though having the case hasn't stopped the dust getting in. I still get the dust under the screen, although I sometimes take it out of the case, so maybe the dust came in them.

The cases that Belkin have are really nice. Itís made of a sort of vinyl/leather stuff (judging from the price, most probably vinyl). It's sometimes hard to press the menu and back button though because of the position of the screen cover.

Default Case for s30and s60

I bought a leather case with flip lid (magnetic secure) that fits well i.e. snug. I think it's got enough padding to protect it from a small fall.

The company is Incipio out of California - google the website. Comes in grey, black and red I think. I got the red one pretty cheap - $20 probably cause no one wanted a bright coloured case? Pretty snazzy looking and sticks out so I won't easily leave it somewhere.

So i just completely disassembled my S30 and cleaned the screen. Wasnt too hard to do but it was a little bit fiddley especialy when you have to remove the metal plate that holds the front buttons/plus pad on. Anyway its all back together again and working perfectly.
