It shouldn't cause any over-charging/over-heating of your P2's battery... but it's always good procedure to disconnect any device that has it's own internal battery, just to be on the doubly-safe side of things, when you are not using it.

And you won't be able to do anything with it other than copy files back and forth.

Actually in UMS mode, you can playback music/videos/photos etc direct from your P2 via your PC while connected, 4D.... just not in MTP mode.

Anselh, Connect your player using the USB cable, Open up your P2 in Windows Explorer.. click on the files you want to play (music/video) or view(photo/txt). Of course you must have a MSC/UMS firmware version installed on your P2 to do this.

I am listening to Moby's Play album (using Winamp), right now direct off of my P2... ..or you could just browse your P2's music library using Winamp, WMP.. etc....

But none of this should be a surprise to anyone, the whole point of using UMS instead of MTP.. is to be able to use your flash player as a removable hard-drive.. and also for OS cross-platform compatibility.

All my PCs have access to all the music I own. No point in copying music to the P2 then playing off it. The music is already on the PC. Yes, even my work PC.

True.... and indeed the most efficient way.... though playing from a P2 can come in handy if you are visiting someone else and want to play your music directly from the player itself, without having to copy all of it to their PC.
