Default P2 enable wi-fi through bluetooth?

Ive been reading around because this really caught my attention. P2 being such a capable PMP, i thought could even have a wi-fi internet running on it as well.

read this::
pocketpccentral.net/help/connect_net_blth.htm

this shows how your cell phone can be used as a modem to connect Pocket PC to internet. what settings do you think should be added into P2 for it to wirelessly connected to interent?

I have high doubts about that happening. Most Phones don't support the PAN Bluetooth profile, which is required for that to work. Some do, most don't. Also, you would need to pay for the data, and you may be charged Data rates, and not WAP rates, as it would most likely be a tethered device. Data rates = Very, very expensive.

Getting connected is one problem. Solve that and you still need a browser. Currently the P2 doesn't have a browser.

Maybe in the 4th bluewave, eh?

Even if it did work, not many people would use it very often, and you might experience alot of lag.

it would lag more than the psp right? because the psp has lesser ram and the cpu is not as strong. Its ram in the the slim version is 64mb and its cpu is 333mhz. My smaller and older brother both own psp's. One slim and one normal. I have an wireless router here in home because i connect my laptop and sometimes the psp's to the internet. But thinking that the psp has wifi and the p2 has bluetooth i dont think they will come up in the same speeds.

Doesn't matter what the specs of the PSP are.

The main reason it will be much, much slower, is that it will have to piggyback off of a cell phone. Cell phones use, at best EVDO. Most likely EDGE or GPRS. While EDGE, in theory, is okay speeds, in practice, it has horrible speeds. Even EVDO is quite slow through a phone. That, along with the fact that all the data will be transmitted over bluetooth, makes it even slower. Also, most phones don't support Bluetooth data.

Finally, the device would be a tethered device, and therefore not use WAP. Because of this, you would need to pay incredibly large amounts of money just to use the P2 for Internet. Data = Expensive.

This will never ever happen because the P2 was never ever meant to be a portable computer or smart phone device. Even if they wanted to it would be such a kludge to implement, it would be a giant waste of time and I doubt the Samsung development group is capable. They've put out slow and buggy firmware and I have a feeling the hardware choice is being a big problem for development too (not even sure though). It was meant to be a media player but they've really strayed off course. It really is too bad though that Samsung and a lot of P2 users are forgetting this and trying to make it a do all device. With the new firmware upgrades the device is getting further away from being a good solid media player. I was hoping for a fantastic media player with interesting side features but what I get is a half attempt at media playback and a bunch of features I would hardly need. If they would just add the ability to append albums, artists and genres to the now playing list and also fix the stupid "sudo-shuffle" which can't even go back to previous played tracks (and replays some tracks way too often) this would be a perfect media player. After that Samsung could go crazy with their random coding ideas if they want.

If you want ultra portable internet access, buy a Smart Phone, PDA or UMPC.

Uhm... The P2 is a portable computer. Most folks don't realize that though. It is a limited one too.

The only reason I believe it will never happen is because I've seen Samsung's plans for the 4th Bluewave, their research, and nothing in them includes internet. There will be some local networking with other bluetooth enabled devices for gameplay. Nice if you have several P2's around. Sucks if your P2 has no local friends.

Maybe the next device from Samsung will be what we REALLY need.

You might want to consider an iPhone. It works great for the Internet because of its dual touch interface. I've tried other smart phones and never used their web browsers because they were too cumbersome.
