Help I have a few Rockbox questions

OK, I'm really new to this so I wanted to know a few things,

1) What really is rockbox and what are the advantages of putting it on my Sansa?

2) How do I put it on my Sansa

3) what features does it have (I read that it had a text editor and other stuff that I might like but I just wanted to clarify)

and

4) Will the .MI4 themes I have on the sansa still work?

I have an e260 if it matters at all.

A little googling/searching/reading sticky threads can go a long way...

1 - 3)

4) Not on Rockbox, but you can use these themes: http://www.rockbox-themes.org/

You can even look in our e200 Rockbox theme forum for themes for Rockbox.

Thanks I got most of it but I wanted to know where I can download the bootloader

"The Rockbox bootloader. The Rockbox bootloader is loaded from disk by the Sansa bootloader. It is responsible for loading the Rockbox firmware and for providing the dual boot function. It directly replaces the Sansa firmware on the player’s disk."
because I can't find it I searched rockbox.org and stillcan't find it, Also I'm not sure where to download the sansapatcher too I tried on my desktop and got a message that said "sansapatcher.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." so I tried downloading it to my Sansa but still got the same message.

Sorry but one more question before I download it

When I already have it installed is there a way to go back to the regular sansa without uninstalling the rockbox?

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...o_Encode_Files

Rockbox doesn't play the MOV files that are supported by the stock firmware.

thanks but what about my second question?

"and also how do I go back to the sansa menu without uninstalling rockbox?"

Because my PC won't detect it.

also when I plug it in it comes up with a bunch of words (they go to fast to read them)
ending in Binary Type:RBOF then Calculated and numbers that I can't read before it goes white and then changes colors then fades to black and it won't work unless I unplug it and then take the battery out and put it back in. The computer doesn't detect it either (but it does work in normal mode)

This oddly seems like the bug from an old version of sansapatcher - where'd you find the instructions for installing Rockbox? In any event, the Rockbox bootloader doesn't seem to like the copy of the original firmware you had on your Sansa. Try going into Recovery mode (Turn on hold, hold rec, turn on Sansa. Keep holding rec until it says Welcome to Recovery Mode) and placing the firmware file that's in my signature in the 16MB-FORMAT drive that appears on your computer. This will remove the Rockbox bootloader and give you access to the original firmware, at which point you can reinstall the Rockbox bootloader using the latest version of sansapatcher.

Note: When in Recovery Mode:
Do not format the recovery drive.
Do not erase any file from the recovery drive.
Do not place any file on the recovery drive, unless told do to so. Placing the firmware in my signature on the recovery drive is safe to do however.

I strongly advise you to follow the instructions in the manual and use the download links included there, and no others.
