I think that is the e200R checksum, and that is why you need to use the e200tool to go back.

Hello,
Is there anyway to recognize the hardware difference between an e260 and e260r? Are they always marked on the back? The reason I ask, is I just bought a used e260 and it has rhapsody on it. The Sansa updater recognized it as an e260 and the region as "rhapsody", since this is my first step into rhapsody (I though I smelt something on my shoe) I'm just wondering how to tell the difference (hardware wise). Thanks for any help and Rockbox is amazing. I've rocked 3 players and I'd never go back!!

The easiest is the menu of the e200R series have Rhapsody Channels.

There is none. The only possible one would be a chip for Rhapsody's DRM, but other than that, the e200 and e200R are exactly the same, hardware wise.

Default rhapsody in blue

Thanks Chris,

I'm running your build on one of my players and it works great. Thanks for all your hard work and taking the time to discuss things.

BTW
In a report published Thursday, StopBadware.org faults the latest version of RealPlayer for secretly installing its Rhapsody Player Engine during the RealPlayer installation.
"RealPlayer 11 does not disclose that it installs Rhapsody Player Engine, and does not remove the software when RealPlayer is uninstalled," StopBadware says in the report.

Hi all! This method won't work for anybody, but I found a great way to change it. You have to put Rockbox on the E200 and then download an E200R firmware rename it to OF.mi4, then put it into the SYSTEM folder. It will work.

sbartha11, I have done it a few times already. So the steps do work only if you did not a step right.

Yeah, this is great! I did this and it just got better, because now I have Rhapsody which has scrolling menus and an anti-aliased font, I also have Rockbox!

I have 5 short questions.

1.) Will this process delete my songs, videos, pictures, etc.

2.) What is so different about e200r?

3.) What does rhapsody do?

4.) Can someone list the pros, and cons for a e200r, compared to e200?

5.) If I bricked my sansa while doing this, would I be able to use the "Ultimate fix?"

1) No, it should not as far as I know.
2) The e200R can play unprotected AAC files.
3) You could use the Rhapsody Channels, but some people say it does not work.
4) I think the e200R firmware is less buggy.
5) You could, but if that does not work, the e200tool will work.
6) Yes, it can work, but it is up to you tho.
7) I have an e280 that I have put the e200R firmware on it.

I see. Can you confirm that the rhapsody channel does not work(since you have a e280r)? And, would the rhapsody channel work with rockbox?

Anyways, thanks, I will try it

Since I have e280R, they still work. I am not sure if you have e200 to change it to e200R. Rhapsody Channels are Rhapsody's DRM music. So it will not work with Rockbox.

oh..well...I tried to load rockbox on my e280r (I just converted it) but I failed to put rockbox on it. So, how do you convert it back to an e200? If it is e200tool, what is that?

There is an e200Rpatcher that you use to stop the e200R checksum.
