Hi - I have exactly the same "MTP Device" issue/error message. Can you tell me which services you started/stopped? I've been playing a bit, but I still can't make it work....

adslegend yes, please tell us the services you enabled. I have exactly the same problem on my home pc, while my work pc recognises it as MTP (too lazy to print service lists and compare them... ya know )

Hello,
I was getting the same issue, I was using the WMP 11 Beta, although I cannot confirm all this my suspicions are that the MTP drivers are in WMP10 as I went from WMP 9 to 11 without installing WMP10.
I uninstalled/rolled back WMP11 and then installed WMP10 from the samsung disk, that seemed to work as when I next connected in MTP the drivers went in and now had the option to sync.
But even better from my point of view was winamp now recognised it as a portable device far better user interface for me, I hate WMP but like I said I think the relevant drivers are built into WMP 10, if you already have WMP10 installed then this is of no help; sorry!
Still, went back to drag 'n' drop, was curious more than owt else.

Winamp recognised this? how can i use winamp as a replacement for wmp when using my z5? i use winamp for my default media player app anyways....

All I can say is that after the MTP drivers were installed I went into the WinAmp media library and under portables it was listed there I still didn't try to sync or anything like that but it came up saying samsung Z5, then in your playlists you can right click and send to the player, still haven't gone that way as I previously spent along time sorting out the file structure to replicate the playlist using the UMS mode (when I get bored of the current installed playlists will try this out proper).
At the bottom of the screen though is buttons for PLAY, ENQUEUE, SYNC, AUTOFIL so got to assume that the MTP driver/function then allows this in WinAmp it doesn't show up in UMS mode, by the way I am on the latest WinAmp 5.24 and when installing it had the playforsure plugin installed (I think this is default anyhow),

uninstall wmp11 reboot your comp, then install wmp10.

ALSO have you turned the player's UMS only mode on? if not give that a shot, windows should then see it as a nice looking usb drive, none of that mtp stuff.

If you press and hold the back arrow when connecting the player to the computer that will do it probably the best option for now.
Additionally if using the later firmware versions it can be set in the settings, menu

It is a alternate media player, can be seen here http://www.winamp.com/ it has been on the go for quite for a while.
Alot of people including myself prefer the way it works, library etc, it also has some nice plugin tools, but sadly not all of them seem to work (that's been my experience anyway).
from the link you can have a look and download a free version that only reallly affects the speed you can rip your cds at.
