Default The sound Quality of rockbox is AWESOME!!

Awesome!! it takes a heck of a long time to tweak. but if you can get the pass filters and the gain set and then go to the stereo separation. and after all that be sure to save settings on EQ and the sound settings. im listening to an old who track off of its hard Eminence front and with custom settings tweaked i can hear like space separation that i dont think i have ever enjoyed before. I wonder how good this will sound with some decent phones and not the crap the player came with.. hmmm.

so to sum up
Rockbox is GREAT but YOU really have to sit down and get inside the box to tweak it. but its so much warmer richer and full it worth the time and trouble.
its like downloading an application expecting a boombox and finding with the some tweaks you have Boze 301s.

MHO...

Long Live Rock

Scuzzo, I have used Rockbox on my H320 and since I started using it I neverwent back to native firmware on it.
P.S. A Who fan I suppose? IMO they are one of the greatest groups of all time.

It would be really nice if you could share your settings with other members of the forum? :-)

If you get blown away by RB + Sansa e200 v1, wait till you try one of the irivers or a gigabeat - they simply take a sledgehammer and destroy the e200 v1.

BTW
No highs, no lows, must be Bose.

I think Rockbox improves the sound quality, too, since there is more options to play with.

Wow, what's with you being so defensive already? I'm merely saying irivers and gigabeats have a way superior sound quality then the e200 v1. The poor sound quality of the e200 v1 is well known - but hey, if you like the noisy background and lack of clarity across the spectrum, keep using it.

FYI, I'm a former Sansa owner as well.

what's with the noisy background and lack of clarity...??. Everything on my v1 Sansa e260 comes in clear as a bell?. You must've had a bad one.

Etymotic 6i Isolator Earphones. I know they cost more than the player but I've used them on a number of my players and they work the best.

Costing more then the player is "normal" for headphones
Ety's are great headphones. I suggest you to try out other players to hear the difference I've been talking about.
Noisy background = electrical noises - you can hear them at low volumes and they are very annoying to me
Lack of clarity = Muddy sound - All sansas before the Clip has a notorious reputation of a poor sound quality. When I A-B with another player, the difference is very noticeable.

Check out Head-Fi if you're interested.
