Default Please Help Testing the "Device Disable" Patch

The "Device Disable" Patch is a patch to substantially increase battery life. In order to test this patch properly and have the devs improve upon it, it must be tested in isolation. Therefore I request that you consider downloading the test build referenced in this thread:

http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=14904.0

test it out and provide some feedback as new versions come out.

Charles

I have loaded the new firmware on an E260 just before loading the software I had charged the device all night and the rockbox info showed 5 hrs and some unknown min of time at 100% charge. After loading the new firmware the info screen shows 11 hours at 67% charge. One thing that I think I noticed with the previous build is the device losing charge while shutdown. I will be trying to monitor that perception with the new firmware. I also noticed that there is no longer a shutdown option in the system menu? I am using a micro-sd card with language lessons on it, and I noticed that there is a delay in accessing the card ( a loading message ) which is something new. Is recharge time equal to usage time?

You should use "Build" link than chose "SVN Candidate" and build for Sansa e200.

I was testing my sansa with earlier build but there was "that" error that provide battery bench plugin to writing bench.txt file not corectly because of fact that sansa is flash player not HDD (or something like that ). In this candidate build it supposed to be fixed.

It's just a normal build, but with a new patch. All we want to do is compare it's battery life with the normal builds battery life.

You should fully charge battery, run player, chose to play some songs or album and leave it until battery run out. Then in "system >> running time" you will see the best time you get (I think )
You can also run battery bench plugin and then...this is the part I'm not familliar with

Just tested new "SVN candidate" build and I get 15h (but battery wasn't fully loaded and my Sansa during the "bench" was running without earphones)

Unhappy Can't get to thread

I was going to try this, but it appears that this thread is off-limits to me. Is there another way to get to it to try it out?

This patch was already committed, so no more testing is needed.
