Exclamation Rockbox Problems-Best solution?

As anyone who has seen any of my other posts will know, my sansa e260 was messed up by rockbox (wont register on USB, BUT will charge!).
Unfortunatley, these posts always seem to have a bit of intrest, with nothing really happening other than being told to ultimate fix, the go dead. As this sight, more to the point members of this sight, told me to download rockbox, I feel it would be fair if I was offered a little help in fixing it.
1) If i do ultimate fix it, can anyone tell me if the e260 will be able to register in recovery mode, as it doesnt 'see' the USB in rockbox mode and will not return to the origional firmware. I really dont want a 16mb 70 mp3 player, that wont even play music and wont let any be added!
2) I am not partically geeky when it comes to the workings of mp3 players. Therefore, if there is anyone in the UK who would trade a 2gb clip for my e260 OR buy my e260 for 30-40, I would be reasonably happy with that solution

Thanks for your time

Lol, just follow the Ultimate fix.

By the way, rockbox doesn't support USB transfer yet. You need to boot into the OF by either holding |<< right after you started your Sansa or inserting the USB cable while the Sansa is off.

But if i insert the USB cable when the sansa is off it turns on(on rockbox)
And it wont load the origional firmware (see past post)

1. Can you get into the original software without plugging in the usb? (holding the |<< (left) button down whilst powering the player up.)
2. If so does Songokuu advice work? (last post on your original thread - Turn sansa into OF wait until database rebuild is over and then plug it in USB.)?
3. Is rockbox working Ok, and your just having problems with connecting via usb? (how do you know its charging?)

Again, use http://download.rockbox.org/manual/r...-buildch2.html (the official instructions...) to install Rockbox and sansapatcher, which will allow you to boot the OF. Unless you have the v2 sansa...

This is probably just me, but I'm confused as to the actual problem. No OF? Explain how you caused this error, and how the ultimate fix does not work for you. In detail.

Default RIGHT...(sorry i havnt posted, been forced to use a modem recently)

+I bourght a e260 last year
+After being encouraged on the abi forums, i downloaded Rockbox
+after downloading, e260 seems fine
+unplug, crashes
+recovers next day, but whenever i try to load OF, the screen pictured on one of my old threads(should be a link on earlier posts) comes up
+prognosis, something is wrong with the OF
+I know it is charging because the mp3 player goes on and the battery=100%
BUT... My 20 hour battery life is nearer 7(and the battery wont charge, according to a rockbox program, past 55%) AND the mp3 player does not 'exist' on the pc when it is plugged in with the usb cable(i purchased a new one of them incase anything was wrong with it). Have checked with a linux computer and a mac so not related to the OS of my computer either
+Since the mp3 player doesnt 'exist' on my computer, i'm worried that if i master reset it, i'll have a 16 mb e260 (ie. it still wont 'exist' on the computer so i wont be able to use the sanspatcher thing)

Rockbox doesn't have USB support, so you either need to use the OF or recovery mode.

Recovery Mode:
Turn on Hold
Hold Rec
Turn on Sansa
Keep holding Rec until it says "welcome to recovery mode"
Place the OF onto the recovery mode drive.
Disconnect Sansa
Turn off hold
Done.

The OF mi4 can be found in my signature.

I have noticed my Sansa charge while in Rockbox though, even without that patch

Well, my USB controller is certainly initialized in the "off" setting, but if you're welcome to add the charging patch, goto the debug menu and check bit zero of the "CHARGER" line. 1 is enabled, 0 is disabled.
