No firmware/hardware updates have yet been made available (for the Clip) that address your issues, though Neptune has take it upon himself to declare that the following works as a solution for the 'loudness' issue:
dfkt, "You could try setting all EQ bands to their lowest setting - that should give you a few dB less." Neptune, "Thanks for the nice tip, that pretty well solves the problem for mp3 files, especially audio books @ night, it's easy to set the custom eq to as low as you want to go and then switch back to another setting for music or other times of the day." In your case, you're probably better off sticking with your Muvo N200 (for now) since it works so well for you, or possibly investigating a RockBoxed Sansa E2xx. |

A firmware upgrade that addresses the high low volume level should be out in about a week, it was announced a few weeks ago.

that would be great. I like to go to bed listening to music with the clip and the loud volume makes that difficult.

The firmware has been going through QA testing pre-release. It also will have an improved/more accurate battery indicator/gauge.

Thanks, then I can remove the hold on my pre-order of the Clip.

Quote from Sansafix on the SanDisk forum: Lower volume setting is developed and will be released in the next firmware release. The extended volume range will be available for all playback modes (MP3, FM, etc) Estimate is 2-3 weeks. |

The timing is more like a week now, given the date of the original message.
