omg hey thats um FordGT's theme over at Epi! freaking awesome! im still trying to create my own (black glossy)vista them but man is it unbelievably hard to. the battery icons seem to not want to change

No Way!!!! I just checked that firmware modding thread not too long ago and it looked like there would be nothing going on for a long while but I see they've made quite a breakthrough! Sweet!

I cannot get the firmware updater toload into my player. Everytime I try to do it, I get an upgrade failed message. Any ideas?

Are you talking about Creative's firmware updater, or the hacked updater for loading custom themes? If the latter, you might want to take a look in the Hacks & Mods subforum.
