Default Bootloader Can't find e200

Heya,

I'm currently trying to install rockbox on my sansa however I can't install the bootloader, manually or automatically.

I've made sure my e200 is set to MCS mode but the sansapatcher tool says it can't find any e200's.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Bec

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting your Sansa?

You could have an e200v2. The easiest way to find out is to go to Settings-> Info (or something like that) and look at your firmware version. If its 1.x.x, you have a v1. If it's 3.x.x, you have a v2.

That is a v1, good.

Plus, it is good to hear that it finally worked.

I'll get flamed for this but a word of advice. Installing rockbox totally junked my e280. I spent 4 days using ubuntu trying to salvage it to no avail. This is a well meaning program done by quite a few people. Just remember that everything does not always go correctly as planned following the best of directions. You will find many rockbox posts by others who had difficulties with it. Many on the rockbox forums also. Be careful.

Let the flames begin.

Umm, if you don't have a Sansa and you don't have rockbox then why are you still posting in the this forum? Trying to discourage people from enhancing their media player and making their life a littler happier? It would do more good to help the ones who have trouble than just telling them flat out that it doesn't work. And he/she has it working. The problem is most likely the user other then Rockbox. Most of the time they have just done something wrong, unconsciously, causing it not to work properly. (deleting a file or placing something in the wrong place, ect.)

PS: Is that good enough of a FLAME for you??? lol sorry but i just wanted to do that. I don't ever really flame people. As he was asking for it, quote the "Let the flames begin."

I'll just say that, having read every post at the _official_ Rockbox forums, I've never seen someone actually post saying "I've done everything right, and now my e200 is bricked" who actually turned out to have done everything as the official manual says, in the end.

"The best of directions" WAS the official manual, right?
