I tried this the other day in my car and it worked.
I got a cheapie car charger with a USB port on it. Similar to this one: http://mobiledriven.stores.yahoo.net/usbcarchad.html Then plugged in the USB charging cable and guess what? You can charge your Clip and play music at the same time. So, I guess, like other players, you can play music and charge your player as long as there is no "data" connection. This also puts to rest the bogus claim "You can't charge your clip without a computer." Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know. Also, I plugged it into a Macbook and it showed up as a Sansa e350. Odd. |

Thanks, great tip.
Does anyone have an alternative method to charging the clip without a PC? |

Any charger with a standard usb connection works. My palm wall charger works with the clip as does the one I have for my cowan f2. They're all interchangeable. Or you can get an igo that has different tips. I have one for my cell phone for the car and bought a palm tip for the clip.

I purchased a usb wall plug and the unit automatically turns on and plays music but doesn't appear to be charging.

My e200 charges through a wall outlet just fine.

I just returned my View today at BB and got a clip instead (too many bugs). I'm going to wait for firmware fixes or the Cowon A3.
My Clip has been charging for about 4 hours (first charge) and the icon hasn't stopped animating yet. Is it done charging? |

When charging is complete, the "connected" indicator and battery icon will stay solid yellow and the remaining animation continues. Check the click's properties to see the charging status.

Also, if you disable the comms driver in Device Manager, you can charge it on your PC without it docking(no it doesn't try to re-install). Confirmed to work with Zen Microphoto 8GB
