I cracked open some cables to find the video outputs on the View. I successfully found Video as well as Left and Right audio channels as true line out.

Considering it's composite signal, 480i for NTSC. Who knows though, they may have implemented S-Video as well (using other pins)

This is terrific news!!!
If it an be hooked up to a TV, it becomes the best player around. Now, the question is WHICH videos will it play. Try playing avis encoded at 29 fps and 900kbs or better in DivX 4, 5 and Xvid and let us know the results. Suppose it's useless trying one with AC3 audio, but ya never know.... might be surprised there. |

Does anyone know if the cable and pinouts are the same on the Sansa? I wanna make a LOD for my amp (better than headphone-out)

It is a pity S-Video probably isn't support, composite sucks, but will do for an MP3 Player. The same resolution that you've encoded the video in. I believe most people are using 320x240, which also happens to be roughly VCD quality, so definitely acceptable. But according to this link 480x272 is the maximum resolution supported: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=21951 Quote:
It's likely audio is converted from whatever codec into PCM so your headphones can handle it. PCM is the standard for generic audio and will work on a TV. |

In any case, went to check a couple of recent DVD rips I have just to see if they could be played: American Gangster 624X336 AC3 Pirates - World's End 720X304 AC3 Ratatuille 672X272 AC3 So, audio issues aside (No AC3 support) looks like not even Ratatuille would play. Pity. |

Any chance one of those pins might be for line-in recording? that would make this just about the perfect mp3 player for me.

Now if we could just get a cable with video/audio out and USB charger in at the same time, that would be GREAT!

This was a triumph, I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS! It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
It's been a while since I did such delicate soldering job. I used the official Sandisk cable that came with my now defunct e270. Enzo used an aftermarket one, according to his pictures. The official connector seem smaller, less room to set the wires within, and the soldering tabs are shorter and quite fragile. But it works. Just one correction: Pins 7, 8 and 9 didn't worked. No video or audio came out of these. You must use pins 14, 27 and 28 if you want to build an a/v cable for your Sansa View.

I made a video cable using pins 14, 27, and 28. Works perfectly.
Now.. I have a car charger and I use a mini stereo cable in my car for the audio--two cords need to be hooked up to listen and charge. I would like to make it so only one cord needs to be hooked up. For regular stereo audio should I use pins 8 and 9 or 27 and 28? I'll check for continuity between the regular headphone jack and those pins before I do anything.. just wondering why there are two pairs of pins Thanks |

So I've an Chinch-cable and the Connector-cable to my Sansa.
Can you please tell me which of the cables(?) in the Chinch-cable I have to connect to which pin? ![]() Thank you very much, best wishes from Germany! |
