Default Play order and playlists?

Hi there. We just gave our son a 2 gig Mobiblu cube for his birthday. Before we go back to the store to exchange it for a 1 gig ipod nano, I'd like to get some input from some other users of non-Apple players?

All my kids seem to want out of an MP3 player is to be able to load a bunch of songs and have them play back in the order that THEY want them to!

Some people clamored for alphabetical sorting, others didn't. I'm used to play songs in the order I want it, unless I feel like Random, so WMP, playlists, and ReNamer didn't make this a lasting issue. Still wondering if there was an easier way, but that's ok for now.
Can you elaborate on how to get the songs to *NOT* be re-ordered alphabetically and sorted into folders, but rather presented in a single playlist, in the order that they want them?

My son's trying to sync a playlist from WMP of about 180 songs by more than 50 different artists, and many of the songs by each artist are not showing up in their folders. He may also be hitting the 50 folder limit I've read about.

I think they've been a little spoiled by how the i-Tunes program's playlist feature works on my other son's shuffle. How do we salvage this?

Thanks!

Mike D.

The Cube only has on the go playlist function (page 34 in the manual) you cannot sync playlists with WMP. If you wanted to play them in a certain order you would have to rename them beginning with 01...80.

The features in the cube are very basic you are not going to get much more out of it other than playing muisc. If you are looking for somthing with better playlist support and more functionality look at somthing like the Samsung Z5, iRiver Clix, Zen Micro, SanDisk e200

Default Thanks for confirming...

Thanks for confirming what I learned from lengthy tinkering with it today, Enzo.

There seems to be absolutely no way to make the firmware even notice that a playlist file, WMP or Winamp, is loaded anywhere in memory. No matter where I put it or how it gets there, it doesn't show up in file navigation, and there's no menu option anywhere except the dynamic "on the go" playlist.

Just to prove it to myself, I tackled my daughter's Sandisk c150. We've had it for about a month and the kids had not been able to make it work with playlists, either. I did the same things I'd tried on the MobiBLU and on this player, they worked.

So now the daughter's happy. She can have her playlists. I spent the last couple of hours with it and I can honestly say it's a sweet little gadget.

We've carefully cleared, cleaned up, and repackaged the cube. It's ready to go back to Target. Here's hoping there's no hassle with the return.

Stephen's looking forward to his nano.

Thanks,

Mike D.

For the Cube, all you have to do is use a program like Windows Media Player, or something that has all your playlists stored. From there, you can simply load it onto the cube, but make sure the window for the cube inside the cube is already on display.

Assuming your playlist already has the songs in order, drag the songs from the cube onto your mass-namer program, which in my case was ReNamer. Simply add 001 through 500 or however many songs there are.

I was interested in the nano, but after hearing all the complaints about it, notably its scratchability and structure, I said screw it. Plus, since the nano is not true UMS, that is a big no-no for me, especially since the Cube doubles as my storage when I'm hopping computers and places.

Edit: Just realized I was about two hours late. Was gone all day, and my post probably isn't going to be heard. Anyways, I didn't really elaborate the first time and after realizing, I guess I don't have to if it is already repackaged.
