Default Movies on the T9

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and I was wondering if anybody watches movies on their T9. I'm trying to, but I can't... I've been looking on this forum, but I can't really find a topic on this, so is there any free software on the internet that allows you to convert a complete (and also copyrighted) movie to an AVI file or something similar to that? Then you can convert it to SVI later with SMS. Thanks everyone for the help.

I don't know if you would WANT to watch a movie on the T9, because the screen is pretty small. But it all comes down to what you prefer. Before I tell you what to do, I need to know if the movie is on a dvd or as an avi file, on you're computer. There are many programs to extract movies out of a dvd. You should try looking for a free program here.

They have a variety of programs.

Also, you should consider that when you put a movie onto your T9, it would take about as long as it would to just watch the movie on your TV. So by the time you put it on the T9, you could've already watched it!

Instead of movies, you can put short video clips, like funny clips, trailers, and etc. that you can find on youtube, daily motion, and etc. Check out the video guide for more information.

I know, but still, I like watching movies (or at least my favorite parts over and over again) over and over again. I guess it's just me. Anyway, thanks for the help, I hope I can figure it out from here.

This thread is getting sort of illegal... anyway, I use keepvid. Unless you're downloading it from google video, it will be a .flv file (a flash video file). It has a link to a free viewer so you can watch it on your computer. However, I'll let you figure out how to convert them because that's illegal, I think.

BTW, that's not exactly a very good thing to admit, t9girl.

I do the same thing with TV shows. I've been watching Curb Your Enthusiasm on my T9 on the train each week and it looks surprisingly good. I have yet to try it with movies though.

I think I may buy the P2 just to be able to play movies without having to focus on such a tiny screen.

Converting DVDs is not illegal. What IS illegal is breaking the CSS copy protection on the DVD. For U.S. citizens it is legal (under Fair Use) to connect a DVD player to a TV tuner card on your computer and capture the incoming stream to a file. And for some people with slower computers, a 1-to-1 playback/capture ratio is actually faster than ripping.

Convert flv videos from YouTube or Google is not illegal.

Yes, I know that sracer. However, downloading ripped movies from someone else off of limewire is totally illegal. And, although downloading Youtube or other videos is not illegal, there are plenty of illegal videos on Youtube that aren't supposed to be there in the first place, and downloading them is also illegal.

Okay, let's try and keep this thread on the original topic, "Movies on the T9". If you think something may be illegal or shouldn't be mentioned then don't and I’ll remove anything I think shouldn’t be posted.

Is there a way to have virtualdubmod converting an avi directly to svi without using SMS?

Yeah I just thought of this, wanted to know if anyone else had this happen. A while back before I got my T9 I went ahead and started converting some of my DVD's for use with it. I think that they were in MPEG format. Well, after converting them I realized that for some reason when played they were upside down. I figured this was just an error with SMS, however after putting them on my T9 after getting it I realized that it had actually re-encoded it upside down. It still works just fine, however the volume is lower. What's odd is that I converted another movie a different way and it didn't do that. Has that happened to anyone else?
