Once you're in recovery mode, you don't transfer i2c-e260.bin. You transfer BL_SD_BoardSupport.rom and PP5022.mi4 instead, as Zivian explained in the first post.

If you can't get either to work, try rebooting the computer and shutting off the Sansa, then try it all again. Make sure you hold the Select button while powering the Sansa on, and keep holding the Record button while running e200tool until you get it to pop up in recovery mode.

You can sell an unbricked sansa as long as you don't say it's new. That's why you'll see some marked 'as is' etc.

[sorry for my English]

Dear Kennyj
I downloaded the libusb-dev 0.1.12. Searching for installation, i follows some step below:
./configure
make
make install
sudo apt-get install libusb-dev

The respond prompt : trunghm is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
It mean that i was not successful install libusb.

After that i run e200tool to recover:
[root@localhost thien]# ./e200tool recover BL_SD_BOARDSUPPORTSD.ROM
e200tool v0.2.3-alpha (c) by MrH 2006, 2007

[root@localhost thien]# ./e200tool i2cprogram i2c.bin

Searching for device 6666:e200 ... 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 not found!

Because my sansa was not mounted after recover command, i try to program i2c first, however, my computer did not see the sansa.
Please advice me on that stuff and how to install libusb-dev on linux as root user.

Hi everyone,
Fortunately, computer recognize my sansa after recover command running. so i program it with e200tool by i2c.bin. Right now, i bring my sansa back to life.
Thank you so much for your support.

But i face with one more issue, the screen turn into blur, it is almost while with very hight contrast. I can not see the display for menu navigation or video as well. You know, i upgraded the firmware because this problem before bricking my e260. i wonder if this is some damage on the screen or not.
my sansa was under warranty, i can claim support from sandisk, but i know it is not easy. i need many more help from ABI, i believe that forum can help me at this time

Long shot I know but worth a go...

Does anybody on this forum (in the UK preferrably) offer a service for using the e200tool to unbrick a Sansa?

Money will be paid for any help forthcoming.

Otherwise I guess I'll have to get my head on this unbricking malarckey

Thanks

Do it again, Daniel-san. FW on, FW off. FW on, FW off. Wipe the screen.

Not much else you can do. You could try SanDisk but I don't think they'll support anything that e200tool has touched.

Default Firmware problem

Well, I was having some problems with my sansa e280 and I found at the forum that Firmware Version 1.02.20P was a good firmware.

So, what I did?

1. I download the only file that was available "1.02.20P.MI4".
2. I started sansa in recovery mode.
3. Copied the firmware (named firmware.mi4) do the 16_FORMAT partition
4. And reboot my sansa.

Everything was OK. On the Info, I could see the new firmware. And I began transferring my songs back to the device (6.1gb of songs). I disconnected sansa safely and when the device restarted itself, there was only the blue ring. The screen is black.

What the f*** just happened??

I canīt believe my sansa is dead...

The firmware file needs to be called PP5022.mi4. firmware.mi4 is only if you already have one of the 1.03.x firmwares installed.

Try power-cycling the player.

Then, read through this thread and try e200tool if you still can't get into recovery mode.

Sorry, but what do you mean by "power-cycling?"

Lather, rinse, repeat, and hope it works... otherwise you probably have a defective memory chip.

If you adjust the timeout in the source to be a bit longer and recompile (this is up to you to figure out) it might have slightly better odds of working.

What's the point in trying to fix the name, if you only see it when it's bricked? Either way, I don't think it can be changed, since the vender/product id would need to change, which would prevent e200tool from finding your Sansa.
