Hello Everyone, I sure hope this post will do the trick.
I'm running WinXP SP2. Windows does recognize the T9, as the unit does charge and shows up in Device Manager (with an exclamation point), but SMS and WMP don't recognize it. 1. Two error messages occur: '...error occurred during the installation of this device: A service installation section in this INF is invalid." When I attempt to find and install a driver, error #2: 'drivers for this device not installed' Also, no driver is found on Samsung's T9 disc nor anywhere on their website. I've tried all the ideas offered in the various forums, short of reinstalling my OS, which I won't do. I'm wondering if any security updates may be affecting the installation. Still, where are the drivers for this thing? This is very frustrating. The T9 was a gift to me. The person paid $139 including tax. I'm determined to get this unit working, but not at the expense of reinstalling my OS (That's where I draw the line). However, if I can't get it working, then I'll move on to another brand's product....maybe, even an iPod. Thank you in advance to all who attempt to help. I sincerely appreciate it. Take care...Desorow |

Hey there,
I THINK I had the same problem as you did and what I did to solve it was: Download MTP from Microsoft. Install it and it should solve your driver dilemma. Also, since you have a new T9, I would suggest checking the other thread about how to upgrade your firmware so that you don't need to worry about MTP (media transfer protocol) since it will make your T9 act as a flash drive. |

Yes, I think you should upgrade firmware to Korean 1.80 UMS and that would solve the problem, because it allows windows to recognize the T9 as an USB Mass Storage device. It allows a faster transfer of files and It allows you to have more control over your device

Desorow, The T9 does not need an individual driver, but your computer needs to be able to recognise an MTP device. Ensure that you have at least WMP10, and preferably WMP11, as this is necessary to recognise the T9 (or any other MTP device).

Thanks to Jason for the tip and all others for their input.
I downloaded and installed the MTP file from MS, then went back into Device Manager and again had Win search for the driver. Success! Whew! What a relief. Thank you. Incidentally, I did have WMP10 installed, and even upped it to WMP11, but still no dice. At least, not until the MTP file was installed. Now, I'll look into updating the firmware. Thanks again everyone. Take care, Desorow |

So I did as you suggested by installing MTP (forgetting I am using UMS version firmware) and now Windows sees new hardware and installs some unknown USB driver and it still doesn't work. It shows up as unknown usb device. At least before the computer recognized the T9 with a question mark. Now it is recognized as unknown USB device. I uninstalled MTP and removed the unknown usb device manager and now when I plug the T9 in to a USB port, a window pops up saying Windows detected new hardware YP-T9 and needs to install drivers for it. It asks me to point to the drivers either in a Windows directory or a CD and of course they aren't found in the Windows directory and the CD won't work because it comes up saying it is only for XP. I am back to the T9 listed in device manager with a question mark and an exclamation point over it. Clicking on properties tells me the drivers for the device are not installed (code 28). I am using 1.68 UMS firmware but the T9 doesn't show up as a USB drive in explorer either. |
