I can't wait to spend 970.13 U.S. on a Q5 60Gb player.
![]() Geez, for that money I can buy almost 3 iPod 160GB, or 3 Zen Vizion M 60GB, or 2 Archos 605Ws. I hope nobody purchases any Q5s or any of their new product line so Cowon learns a lesson. |

for those prices...the player should:
A) Load the music from my computer, by itself, wirelessly. B) Read my mind, and when I think of a song, it plays it and if I don't have that song, it gets it for me. C) Charge itself without ever having to be plugged in. D) If it breaks, it should get in my car, drive itself to the local store, replace itself, drive back, and then load all my music again.

thats outrageously expensive. MAJOR turn off for me, no offense, but at that price, id at least expect and ultra sleek super sexy player with ultimate features bluetooth and wifi.

Calm down guys, be happy you're not in the EU.
Usually that stuff costs a lot more in Europe than in the USA... you can probably convert the currencies 1:1...

But the problem is that even at 1:1 in US dollars those prices are crazy high.

Cowon is a small company, they don't make their own memory like Sandisk does, they don't get mass discounts from part manufacturers like Apple or Creative do - therefore the prices are steep... well, no one's forced to buy a Cowon. However, at least for me it seems you get what you pay for, with their DAPs. (Just look at the price of the Kenwood HDD player, in comparison.)
Those prices will sure go down. For example, the D2 4GB costs $200, so the D2 8GB will be no more than $280-300 at the beginning, I assume. We Europeans have to deal with these price discrepancies between us and the USA all the time... Americans usually just don't notice it because they get the new products before they're on the European market, in general.
