For owners of the M3 - does your player have the 'skipping at end of track' issue (summarized below)??
I'm wondering if this problem exists on every player. Whether the answer is Yes or No, if you can please indicate the codec and bitrate used that would be great (since it seems to only occur at bitrates >128 kbps). NOTE: The problem happens at the END of MP3 tracks (and possibly other codecs) encoded at GREATER THAN 128 KBPS that have NO SILENCE at the end ("gapless" tracks, like dance mixes, live CDs, or studio albums like Dark Side of the Moon where the tracks blend into each other), ESPECIALLY if the 'seek' or 'pause' functions are used while playing the song . I'm itching to get a compact flash player with good sound quality that focuses on music and the M3 seems perfect, except for this issue which is driving me nuts reading about it. |

Very very rarely. Go for the M3, you won't be dissapointed.

I really want to! Do you have many 'gapless' tracks? What bitrate does the problem happen with for you?

I have both M3 and M6, and both have the problem. My music collection is almost all 320 kbits/s CBR MP3s (encoded with LAME 3.92 or 3.97), and a few MP3 albums from eMusic at 192 kbits/s VBR (also encoded with LAME). I also did a few tests with 128 kbits/s CBR MP3 files and the problem doesn't happen. I do like both players and they sound excellent, but if you're going to make a purchase decision, I recommend holding a little and waiting for the upcoming firmware updates from Meizu.

I've checked that site too. Who did you hear from about the firmware update? Has Meizu stated that an update will be coming soon for the M3?

The problem with the 'skipping at end of track' has not been adressed till today. Of course, Meizu owners would like to see the problem fixed, but it hasn't since the player is on the market.

Just to make sure - can someone describe exactly WHAT happens with this skipping issue (I think I have a handle on WHEN it happens - at the end of gapless tracks >128 kbps), but I'm not exactly sure what happens.
How long does the 'stuttering' last? Does it vary? Does one part repeat over and over, or just the end for a split second? Thanks for any help! |
