What is it?

This is my personal copy of Rockbox with a changed "Main Menu", optimize for those who prefers directory browsing. It is build on top of "Cpchan Rockbox Branch".

News

• The archive is now split into 2 parts: rockbox_cpchan_menu.zip and rockbox_cpchan_menu_plugins.zip

Old News

• Change the playlist catalog in the context menu of the wps to go to the playlist directory.

Objective

The objectives of this new "Main Menu" is as follows:

• Playlists orientated.
  
• Directory browsing friendly with new "Main Menu" entry for Music.
  
• Clear separation of Music from Other Audio files with new "Main Menu" entry for other audio files.
  

Requirements

To utilize this build fully, you must create or rename some directories (folders):

• "Musica", for music file. Unfortunately we can't use "Music" because the OF keeps hiding that directory.
  
• "Other_Audio" to origanize other audio files such as "Audio Books" and "Podcasts" in subdirectories.
• "Other_Audio/Recordings" (Other_Audio\Recordings) for Recordings.
  
• "Playlist" for playlists. All Rockbox playlists should be relocated here. The reason I had to do this is again because of OF's directory hiding.

Installation

• Download rockbox_cpchan_menu.zip and rockbox_cpchan_menu_plugins.zip.
  
• Unzip them to the top level directory of your player.

N.B.: "cpchan_experimental_menu_patch.zip" is only for those who want to build their own. This patch needs to be applied after cpchan_rockbox.patch.

One thing - Look at the version number in the credits:

Granted, I just overwrote my build with yours, but the date is different, so I think somehow yours got an odd build. The first part is defined as $SVNVER from tools/svnversion.sh which gets the var from docs/VERSION, which I'm guessing is empty/doesn't exist on your build.

Where should I put the rockbox.mi4 file? And what does it do?

unzip both of the zip files above (either this page or the first, depending on the build) to the root of your player, so that it created the directory .rockbox. The second zip simply adds on to the first, so again, unzip that to the root as well. To answer your actual question, rockbox.mi4 goes in the .rockbox directory on your Sansa.

You don't need the rockbox bootloader. Extract the files, and copy them on the Sansa root folder (which will overwrite the .rockbox folder) and you're done.

Yes, you need to run sansapatcher to install the bootloader. Just following the Rockbox installation instructions, but replace the current build firmware with rockbox_1.zip and rockbox_2.zip.

Strange, there are no "docs/VERSION" file in the tree that I pulled from SVN.

Weird....just checked my computer (now functioning as a build server ) and it doesn't have it either. Might be worth adding that file or using a patch similar to what's in my build (version.patch)

Works fine here. What errors are you getting? Did you update both zip files?

Yeah, I updated both, it says "Incompatible Version" It'll probably be fixed by a re-extraction, so Ill just wait for your latest build.

I have updated the sansa playlist converter to work with the SD card.
songs converted from pla->m3u that are on the card will appear in
the m3u playlist with /<MMC1> prefix.

As an aside, do you know where the context menu for the wps is defined? I can't seem to locate it.

No idea about the menu. I have only been working with plugins.
The newest is an html parser FS 7114.
I should also have 2 way conversion with SD card for the playlist
converter by Monday (m3u/8<->pla) .

cax - the RB team knows about it, but it only affects certain devices (mine doesn't have it) and none of the devs have a Sansa with it. The problem occurs in the Rockbox bootloader, which is why it also affects the OF. Since none of the devv have a Sansa with this multi-colored 'bar' nobody really knows when it will be fixed.

How do I update this build? Just extract the new zip files and put the .rockbox folder again to my sansa?
