Default Noob question--Speakers

Will any powered (or unpowered, for that matter) PC speaker play audio from an mp3 player? Can it cause any damage to the player (in my case, a SanDisk m240)? Any recommendations?

Yes, it will play, no worries - as long as the speakers got a line-input (3.5mm plug or RCA plugs).

Interesting addendum to this: I am the announcer at a race track, and now have a 3.5mm plug which was set up for me to connect directly to my laptop to play tunes from its CD player over our track's extensive PA system. Just for fun I tried my Sansa on that plug...and now it's all I use to play music for the facility.
