Default Creative to report Q3 operating loss of $20million

Bad news, Creative to report Q3 operating loss of $20million. Creative Labs is still not able to pull out of the red for this quarter. Last quarter was good due to $100million payment by Apple. This operating loss is due to lower-than expected sales for Creative products in Asia and the United States, and restructuring charges worldwide relating to cost reduction efforts in the quarter.

How do you know it’s not a way to reduce taxes in the 4th quarter by reporting a loss in the third? I mean it’s hard to say your not making it after receiving a little check for $100 million…

When it comes to advertising, Apple has spent too much for most other companies to compete. But can Creative ride on their coat-tails? We have seen, er, creative (no pun intended ) advertising by Sandisk, who have attracted attention with a different approach.

No war is ever won defensively.
